The Meridian Elementary Art Appreciation Program is looking for volunteer art docents to teach monthly art lessons in the classroom.

  • No previous teaching or art experience is necessary, as training, lessons, and project ideas are provided. This is a fantastic opportunity to get into your child’s classroom and get to know the students and teacher better. the kids absolutely LOVE art day!
  • The time commitment is about 2-4 hours per month (depending on your class’ schedule-anywhere from 45-90 minutes are spent with the students-the rest is preparing the lesson and supplies and matting the artwork for display), plus approximately 8 hours combined for setting up, working at, and taking down art for the Art Walk in May (this is spread out over a more than a week). You and your child’s teacher arrange a mutually agreeable time and day to do art each month.
  • Art docent training is provided through the Interurban Center for the Arts at Green River College. Meridian’s Art
Appreciation Program is funded and operated by the Meridian Elementary PTSA.
  • Art lessons start in September, so sign up soon! Both lead docents and assistants are welcome!
